and Library cart. Marcus: there was a work out machine in the middle of
the room but absolutely no free weights. There
were tables with chess/checker boards on them.
We could buy cards through commisary, or check
out a book through the library once a week.
There was television, and we got an hour of yard
time a day where we could play basketball or
handball. Melissa: 1 hour a day of "Yard Time." The "Yard" is a walled area with
basketball hoops and a volleyball net, and balls. The "Open" top is
fenced over. Like everything else in here, it's filthy, and there are
bugs. You can order books, I heard, but I didn't see where or how. Andrea: None. No books, games, whatever like that. There was 1 hour of
"Yard Time" per day. In the yard was a volleyball net and basketball
hoops. The yard also is filthy, and the top is covered in a fence.
There were 2 TVs but they were controlled by the guards who are
not in the POD so volume and channel where whatever they were
on.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Katrina: yeah but if you were on disciplinary action you
cant go anywhere Rachel: Yes Graham: No. The unit I was in there was one old man who would control
the tv and decide what we would watch and never ask us.
There were some close fights when it came to the tv but not
much else. Everything else was pretty easy to get to without
problems. Gordon: None really available. None really available.

None really available. Marcus: There were 2 televisions and one was always the
Spanish chanel no matter what pod I was in. The
other television was sometimes pretty agreeable,
but I do remember it going to blows once over a
a dispute on what to watch between 2 of the
other inmates, but usually the majority won
without queston. Melissa: There were 2 TVs, with the sound on low, tuned to whatever they
happened to be tuned to. No access to a remote. The guards are
NOT in the Pod with the inmates, so the TV doesn't change. Andrea: Not applicable. The TVs were on whatever they were on. No books
or anything like that.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Katrina: yes Rachel: No Graham: Nope. There is really nothing else to do in there so you work
out and it actually makes you feel ALOT better about yourself Gordon: Yes. Nothing but "monkey bars." Yes. Nothing
but "monkey bars." Yes. Nothing but "monkey
bars." Yes. Nothing but "monkey bars." Yes.

with the workout machine and the yard time to
run. Melissa: Was not there long enough. Didn't eat the 3 days that I was there. Andrea: Was not there long enough to matter, and did not eat except one
orange and a cookie the whole time I was there.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Katrina: if you want a hour a day in the summer i went
evreyday most of the time in the winter to get
fresh air. Rachel: 1hour a day Graham: They had a work out station in the units. But web outside we
could play handball or basketball. There was never a set
schedule for yard try just let us out when try felt like it. Gordon: If lucky once a week (mostly not in the winter
times). The out side was like a dog kennel. You
could not even see out side. Marcus: We were allowed outside for an hour a day where
you could run in circles but not in front of the
handball game's or the through the Basketball
game. Then there was the indoor workout machine. Melissa: One hour per day, in the concrete yard. There are basketball
hoops,
a volleyball net, and balls. Other exercise consisted of the inmates
"Power Walking" in circles around the chairs in the center of the
Pod. Andrea: 1 hour of Yard Time per day. Volleyball net, basketball hoops.
Small triangular 50ft high brick walls topped with fence.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Katrina: yes they did, church was good they had many
different type of service for instance prison
ministries,jehova witness,muslim,cathlic,house of
hope a couple times a week. Rachel: Yes,never went, but I heard it was good Graham: They were held once a week for about an hour. They were ok
but nothing like the out side world. Gordon: Yes, services were available. The church
volunteers were very nice and informative. They
seemed to really care about people. God Bless
them all. Marcus: There were Cathilic and Christian Services and
they were held on Sunday's. I went to the
Christian one which was held buy a man named
Randy Conejos who not only am I still in contact
with, but as a very helpful pastor who'd been
through tough times and wasn't just there to
tell us to do but rather related to us. Melissa: I was not there on a Sunday, but I did hear Church mentioned, so I
assume that they offer services. Andrea: Yes, but I don't know details.
