JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Ben: No. I minded my own business.
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Ben: Mind your business and stand up for yourself.
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Ben: One time I got to choose. I traded with somebody.
The officers didn't really say anything about it.
I was changing pods and we just had to make a run
for the cell we wanted. I traded with another
inmate before the assignments were finalized.
This is not standard. There is usually no choice
about who your cellmate is.
