Pre-sentencing

Interview with Ben

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Ben: I turned myself in and I was just transported to that jail, because it was the only jail around here. I served 59 days prior to my sentencing which was for 90 days.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Ben: No I turned myself in.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Ben: The only time I went to court was for the judge to sign off on the plea agreement. My attorney handled everything else, that is the reason I only went to court that one time.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Ben: Original charges were aggravated assault without an intent to kill, burglury of an occupied structure, simple battery and trespassing. Burglury was dropped, and I was convicted of trespassing, aggravated assault without intent to kill and simple battery.
