JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Clara: i didnt see any while i was there. Carlos: You can do schooling. They have the work program
or clean up duty. You got TV. They gave you cards
once in a while. Only when you go out to rec they
had weights but they took them out cause they were
afraid the inmates were getting too big. Oscar: some jails had tv and you could buy a radio.
others had nothing. I can not answer this any
further as I don't know the procedures for this
out come as I had always been in custody and am
not sure what you want to know else. not much
else.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Clara: yes Carlos: I seen plenty of fights over stupid things in there. Oscar: was easy access. I can not answer this any
further as I don't know the procedures for this
out come as I had always been in custody and am
not sure what you want to know else. nothing
further to elaborate on, as we didn't have the
games or books to use.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Clara: didnt even try to stay in shape. just not eating the
food helped. Carlos: Not really. Inside the pod you have two sets of
steps and you would work out inside if you
couldn't go outside. Basic stuff like pushups,
pullups Oscar: yes. as you might be giving an hour of rec, and
they feed nothing but starches, and the
commonisarry is horrible.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Clara: never Carlos: If you're lucky you got out once a week for about
an hour. Oscar: not often, I would do calthestics. and couldn't
work out inside I can not answer this any further
as I don't know the procedures for this out come
as I had always been in custody and am not sure
what you want to know else.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Clara: yes but i wasnt allowed to go because of waiting on
sarasota county to come get me. Carlos: Yes they had them. I never went. Once in a blue
moon they would let people go but not everybody
could go because the room they had them in could
only hold 15 people. Oscar: yes, but didn't go as I am not church going I can
not answer this any further as I don't know the
procedures for this out come as I had always been
in custody and am not sure what you want to know
else.
