JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Kandra: There is not much that can be given in terms of
advice but the most important thing I think an
inmate can have is money for commissary so that
you can purchase some of the luxuries of the
outside world. Otherwise, make the best of the
time that you have while in jail by doing what
most do, fraternize. Paul: support support support, write even if its only
a line or two, that means so much to get mail,
you dont have to leave a bill alone just send 20
dollars for toiletrys and stuff
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Kandra: I do not know much about the upstairs of Atlanta
City Jail. But the same advice applies that I listed
above regarding commissary. Otherwise, seek
experienced counsel to help you in your case if
funds are available. Paul: dont get too close to anyone, keep your personal
business to yourself, DONT DROP THE SOAP, leave
any friendships at the jail when you leave, get
word to people you know will support you with
commisary and letters
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Kandra: Besides Atlanta City Jail, I have served time at
Fulton County Jail in Atlanta and Women's Detention
Center in Miami, FL as well as Turner-Guilford
Knight Correctional Facility in Miami, FL. Paul: i did time in Allendale Federal prison
Allegheny County Jail, Pittsburgh Pa 1970
