Telephones

Interview with Terri

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Terri: No. I believe there were only certain times in which you could use the phones, and you had to receive authorization from the deputy on duty.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Terri: $7.25 per call and each call was alloted a ten minute time frame. I would estimate probably around 50-75 dollars a week if they planned on being there for a long duration.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Terri: No you did not. You used an access code given to you in booking.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Terri: Yes I believe they did.
