JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't. Brandon: Well most of the inmates were quite not looking
for any altercation that could end up pro longing
their sentence even further so what I witnessed
was pretty much people just getting along with
other people. Lydia: No not at all in the essence of it I 'am an
individual that has comfort with herself and
requires little attention so there fore I felt no need
to associate with others so no difficulties.
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates? Brandon: Typically there weren't any fights as I said mostly
everyone was involved in minor crimes so getting
involved in situations that could pro long your
term wasn't really something that was on
inmates minds at least not the cellmates that I
associated myself with. The inmates that were
stationed on my block were pretty quite. Lydia: Essentially i'am not a confrontational person and
choose to stay in my cell in order to avoid these
kinds of situations or I would do a number of
other activities to refrain from such things like
going to the recreational yard jogging or
something as simple as watching television or
playing cards with myself
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change? Brandon: Well depending upon the circumstances inmates
may change if there was a trail date coming up
and they were released so in that situation your
cellmate would change. And no you weren't able
to choose your cellmates. Lydia: Unfortunately choosing a cell mate is not an
option given to the prisoners well at least not
when I was incarcerated. And cell mates change
quite frequently because their cases would come
up for trail and then they may end up leaving for
home or end up being shipped out to the federal
prison
