Inmates

Interview with Wade and Casey

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Wade: Yah it's ez to get along with the other cons its all about showing respect to each other and minding your own bissiness you won't get along with everyone just stick with a few people
Casey: It was both difficult and easy, depending on who you were talking to. At first, everything seems like it may be difficult in jail, but the reality is that getting along with inmates is easier than one may think.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Wade: You had to watch the way you talked to people if some one thinks you disrespected them they the have to fight you if you call some one a bitch or punk that's an automatic fight or if you call some one a rat or skinner that's an automatic fight
Casey: In order to avoid fighting with inmates it was necessary to keep to myself and not rely on others for anything. I couldn't share my things off commissary because then I would get taken advantage of. Going in, you just know better than to do these types of thing anyway, so it wasn't really an issue. Getting to know people and keeping them close to you also helped, it would keep people who you didn't trust away from your vicinity.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Wade: You can't choose a cell may at first they just put you were they put you but after a while you can get a cell change to live with one of your buddies
Casey: No, nobody was able to choose their cellmates. My cellmate changed whenever they got bailed out. Multiple females were bailed out everyday, usually only to return, but that's another issue entirely.
