Interview with Lily, padilla and Dawn
JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Lily: YES!
padilla: No
Dawn: Yes I had regular access to a phone. there were 2
phones in the gen pod.
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Lily: NO COMMENT
padilla: No
Dawn: I only called my home 2 or 3 times while I was
there. A lot of the inmates received in kind from
their families I however did not. they were able
to purchase a card that allowed them so many
minutes on the phone. My phone calls cost 15
dollars for 10 minutes.
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Lily: YES
padilla: Yes
Dawn: Some people did have phone cards; however a person
could still make long distance calls without a card.
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Lily: YES
padilla: Yes
Dawn: It says on the phone that theses calls will be
monitored.
