JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Joe: give them canteen money to get necessities Walter: Just make sure to try and keep to yourself, if
you do speak with people, stay within your race.
Use your food to get certian things that you need
and know that the food is not good. Wendy: Send them stuff!! I saw a lot of people really
sad in there - they have a much better chance of
turning things around when they get out if they
are calm and consciously accepting of their
circumstances while in there - if lonely and
depressed, they'll probably go back to whatever
landed them there in the first place. Ella: I would tell them that this is one of the better
jails I have ever been in so it figures I heard
they do not use Lino Lakes Med. security facility
any longer. Women are housed in Sherburne county?
Not positive about where but Lino is no longer
being used for females for Anoka co. Annie: Put money on their books for extra food because
its hard to do
time when you have an empty stomach. Things cost a
lot in the
canteen list, if you go in with $100 you should be
able to get
your essential soap shampoo deodorant food and be
semi
comfortable.
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Joe: don't go. be law abiding. Walter: Pretty much the same as above. It is not a super
bad facility. Just listen to the gaurds and you
shouldn't run into any trouble there. Try and
keep your head down and plow thru it. Wendy: Prepare mentally. Accept the fact that you are
there because of something you did wrong. You
need ot accept and go through your punishment -
learn from it! Let it be the place that you
don't go back to! Ella: Remember everyday that this is as good as it gets
speaking in terms of county jails. Take advantage
of the activities offered it really helps to pass
time and keep your mind from wandering and worrying. Annie: Start saving up your money so you can get your
necessary items
or its hell to survive. The soap and shampoo they
supply doesn't
work for women. You'll need about $100 to start
you off.
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Walter: Hennepin County Jail. Wendy: I went to outpatient treatment in Ham Lake,
Minnesota. Ella: Aitkin co.,Chisago co.,Isanti co.,Washington co.,
Polk co. WI. Shakopee State Women's Corr. Fac. Annie: Hennepin Cnty
