JM: How often could you receive visitors? Joe: weekends and once during the week. only 1
visitor per time. Walter: There were just certian visiting times. If I
remember correctly it was about 2 times per week
in the evening. Wendy: I don't know - I didn't have any visitors while
I was there. My mom met me in the parking lot on
my birthday, because I got released to get my
license renewed. Ella: On designated visiting days. Usually two nights
during the week and on the weekends during the day. Annie: Video visiting 4 times a week for 30 minutes. I am
not sure of the schedule
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Joe: if they got there late the line could be an hour
long. Walter: I only had 1 visitor when I was in jail. I
really didn't want anyone to see me in that
enviroment. It didn't sound like it was too much
of a process for the one I had. Wendy: Again, I don't know - I didn't have any visitors
while I was there. My mom met me in the parking
lot on my birthday, because I got released to
get my license renewed. Ella: I do not know what the process was or how long it
took for visitors to sign in to visit. I don't
think it was too long just show an ID and wait for
me to be called into the visiting room. Annie: No I don't think so due to the visits being video
only. So they just needed to show ID and sign in
and wait for your turn.
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Joe: chairs, plexi glass wall, telephones to talk to
one another Walter: It wasn't anything special, pretty much just like
what you see on tv. There was a plate of glass
that separated you from the visitor. There was a
row of seats and you would have to communicate
via the phone thru the glass. I really didn't
spend much time there though. Wendy: Again, I don't know - I didn't have any visitors
while I was there. My mom met me in the parking
lot on my birthday, because I got released to
get my license renewed. I did walk by it one
time, and it is just a big room that looks like
a cafeteria. Ella: Bland. Just a simple phone type booth setting.
Glass separating me from my visitor and phones to
talk into so we could hear one another. Not much
privacy from other inmates and visitors besides a
panel separating each booth and conversations of
everyone's visits can be heard by most in the
visiting room. Annie: A small booth within the day room made it hard to
hear visitors. No privacy and with the booth being
right next to the day room it was har to hear and
not get distracted by the loud inmates. Hard to
enjoy a visit that consists of a monitor and two
partial gray walls.
