Medications

Interview with Katy, Sarah and Laura

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Katy: They want to take $10 off your book to see a doctor and $5 for each medication they write a prescription for. Not only is the state paying to take care of you, but you are paying to take care of yourself too.
Sarah: I took sudaphed and 800mmg motrin
Laura: absolutely not, crazy crazy crazy

JM: How did you get your medications?
Katy: They have to go to medical, the nurse has to write a prescription or your family can bring your prescription as long as it is not a narcotic.
Sarah: the nurse came 2x a day to provide inmates with prescribed medications. No medications were allowed unless given by the nurse
Laura: the nurse came once in the morning and once right before bed. You had to pay for any medication you needed

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Katy: They had a girl come in with heroin and people got busted for doing it. She got lockd down.
Sarah: I did not see any punishments due to drug abuse. If an inmate was caught hoarding their medications they would lost one commisary and one visit.
Laura: My friend was allowed some kind of pill I can't rememeber it was a mild narcotic but she would cheek it, well on the 3rd day the CO caught it and she went into the hole for like a week
