Good Behavior

Interview with Wyatt and Erica

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Wyatt: No, I left Butler County Prison and was moved up state to finish out my sentence.
Erica: no I didn't have the opportunity to do this I was held on a PV

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Wyatt: Most of the inmates I knew did not receive time off for good behavior. The system used any small infraction as reason to keep you for the full sentence.
Erica: I couldn't receive any time off

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Wyatt: In order to get good marks or to get time off, you had to avoid things like fighting with guards and other inmates. Guards could also write you up for things like not showing up to your in-house job, not showing up for head count, having contraband in your cell like cellphones, tattoo guns, alcohol, drugs, etc. Any of these things could keep you from getting early release. I never witnessed somebody losing time off for good behavior. If inamtes did get time off for good behavior, it was only a few days.
Erica: I witnessed all kinds of crazy things, people were trying to sneak drugs into the jail they would be put in the hole and people would fight
