Medications

Interview with Wyatt and Erica

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Wyatt: I did not require medication, but you could get them if you needed.
Erica: yes they medicated us reguarly

JM: How did you get your medications?
Wyatt: You had to go to the nurses station and ask for medications. You would fill out a sick call sheet and she would assess you. If medication was needed, it would take at least 2 days to get it.
Erica: we stood in a long line to get our meds and had ti have our meds dropped into a cup of water

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Wyatt: You would be placed in solitary confinement ("the hole") for any disciplinary actions. I witness several people being put in the hole for days or weeks at a time for different reasons. I was placed in the hole my first week on the block because of a fight that broke out on the floor. We were kept in there for a week and received nothing but cheese sandwiches and water.
Erica: I witnessed girls trying to sneak drugs into the jail. they got into a lot of trouble and put in the hole
