Visitor Policy

Interview with Wyatt and Erica

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Wyatt: Thursday and Saturday evenings were visitor days. We could visit with family for 20 minutes. Only 2 people could visit you on a given day.
Erica: twice a week you could get a visit but it was a giant process to have someone visit

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Wyatt: Visitors were required to go through several security checks before entering the visiting room. They were signed in then their clothing was checked to make sure it was appropriate, and they were scanned to make sure they had no contraband. They were not permitted to bring their bags or any other items in with them. They were locked in lockers.
Erica: yes they had to be checked in by guards then go through metal detectors and be escourted by a guard up to the pod then I had to be notified

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Wyatt: The visiting room did not have tables. You had to stand on either side of the glass window and talk through the phones on the wall. You couldnt touch or hug your visitors, and the room was small and cramped. You could always hear other peoples conversations, and it would get very noisy.
Erica: we talked to each other over a phone. it was through thick glass and it was aweful. the experience is something I never want to do again there would be four or five girls all in a tiny room trying to talk to their loved ones and friends through glass
