JM: How many meals did you get per day? Robert: Three meals a day, 7 days a week Amanda: You were given three meals a day
JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why. Robert: For institutional food it was not that bad. There was diversity in
the food served. It was filling and on holidays it was
appropriate to that specific holiday like Thanksgiving was
turkey with all the trimmings and Christnas was ham with all
the trimmings. They had dessert and drinks every dinner. Amanda: The food was horrible when I was there bc the
kitchen facility was being renovated. WE had to
eat Banquet frozen meals that were never cooked-
or if they were they were so burnt that you could
not get the food off the plate. Also- you usually
got the same banquet meal three's in a row.
JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals? Robert: I always like breakfast and dinner and for breakfast there
pancakes were good and for dinner chicken was always good. Amanda: There was never a favorite banquet meal- but one
time they ran out of them so we had semi-hard
boiled eggs. They were good.
JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it? Robert: No snacks but you could stick up from the commissary every
two weeks and it was very reasonable and the choices were
very diverse so you could maintain a steady stream of snacks
if you had money. Amanda: The other snacks were all chips and candy and
things that you never even heard of. Alot of the
girls ordered oodles of noodles and ate them
instead of the meals. You could spend up to $100
a week on commissary.
