Interview with Robert and Amanda

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Robert: Yes when you could get to one
Amanda: Yes. Telephone time was ten minutes a day. This time was given to you during day room and depending on what ur last name was is when u were able to use the telephone.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Robert: I am not sure what the charges were as I made no calls. I never tracked or spoke to anyone about their calls
Amanda: Phone calls were able to be made if you had a phone account thru the prison where people could place money on ur "phone" account. If there was no money-n then u had to go to the counselor to make any type of phone calls. I spent about $325.00 a month on the phone.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Robert: No it was all collect
Amanda: no phone cards- money on phone account books

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Robert: All calls were screened I believe
Amanda: yes- the jail was allowed to listen in
