JM: How often could you receive visitors? Sarah: Only on the weekends, Sat and Sun. Visits
lasted 20 minutes. Children could only come on
the first weekend of the month. You can only
see one child at a time and the most children
that can come at once are three. The time has
to be divided and you visit with each
individually. Drew: We could receive visits twice a week twenty min unless its an
attorney visit and Paul: visits were every weekend for two hours, if you
lived over 8 hours away like i did u got four
hour visits. Only two adults and two children are
aloud at a time. If you are allowed contact
visits you will be across a table from them but
if you have gotten into trouble and are not
allowed contact visits it will be through glass
with a phone. Your family is allowed to buy you
snacks and sodas from the machines but you cannot
take anything back to the call with you
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Sarah: It depends on what time they came. If they came
super early they would get right in. If you
would come in the middle of the visiting time,
you could be sitting for an hour or more. The
male side takes a lot longer. Drew: The check in process is really long depending on the line and
depending on what cell lock you live in my wife waited long
and in another part is was short Paul: Yes, there are thousands of prisoners and
everyones family only has two days out of the
week to visit them so there are hundreds of
people waiting and the visit rooms are only so
big. My family has told me they have waited up to
three hours to see me
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Sarah: You sit down with glass in front of you and you
each have a phone. Drew: All the inmates are pretty much tring to behave In front of your
family but there is an occasional fight between rivals who got
contact hit order s or arguments between spous sor touching
the window you can tell some men want to cry but you can't in
front of everyone Paul: You are in a room with tables set up everywhere,
there is a chair set on one side of the table for
you and other chairs on the other side for your
family. You are allowed to hold there hands or
carry your child but thats it, one kiss, one hug.
Guards are constantly waliking around and
watching for anything you shouldnt be doing,
there are snack and soda machines your family can
get you stuff from and yes you can get as much as
you want.
