Jenna: No you have to put in a slip to see a nurse, once you did that you would receive them when the medical cart came around.
Cris: No, I was sick when I was there and they denied medications. Even though I was throwing up in front of them.
Bonnie: No.
Ashley: I don't know
Aaron: You had to purrchhase simple. Things like aspirin or chapstick. You could ask annd ask even. Beg and they won't help you with anything unless you. Want to spend 5 dollaars to see medical and even then they won't give you aanything to last more than the night.
Walter: The med cart came around 3 or 4 times a day with inmate specific meds as well as aspirin and oragel for those who want it. I had a bad tooth at the time and they provided meds to keep the pain down.
Shawn: Yes, there was a medical floors and sick calls done
Mimi: No, even if you had your prescription on you when you are admitted to the jail, you would have to wait for your doctor to send paperwork saying why you need them and exactly what the prescription was.
Saul: Yes I had access to medication after some time. It was hard to get set up.
Heather: There are medications called KOPS (keep on person) those are usually things liuke ibuprofen or prenatanls. otherwise you have to wait for the nurse to come around at med time,
Ricky: Medications were handed out daily and OTC meds available thru doc or store.
Sterling: Hell no. I had strep throat and the best I could get was the salt from lunch and even that I had to sneak.
Doug: Yes if i needed any.
George: after you saw a nurse.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Jenna: You have to see the nurse first.
Cris: NA
Bonnie: I didn't.
Ashley: na
Aaron: If you had medications you were called out to take your meds and that's that. Nothing more to really say.
Walter: They were handed to you. You took them in front of the gaurd them can go back to your bunk.
Shawn: A nurse came around to give out medications to the inmates at a certain time of day or you could go to the med floor
Mimi: The nurse would come around once a day to each unit and the inmates would line up and the nurse would hand out their medication thru a window slat.
Saul: Medications were brought three times a day to our cell or as needed. They were dispensed by a nurse and had to be doctor ordered.
Heather: the nurse would come around at designated med times and when she called you by your last name you would come stand in line
Ricky: I took no medications while incarcerated at RJC. Once in DOC I was diagnosed with esophageal varices and given propranolol and Prilosec.
Sterling: I got blood pressure meds when I did the 20 days. I also snuck in my sleeping pills and the lining of my draws.
Doug: I never had any medications but the people who did the doctor would come in and they would get called on.
George: to get your medicines in jail, you would have to line up and see a nurse. after taking your medicine, your mouth was checked.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Jenna: Thrown in the hole and it was written up. That I believe would get you a date with the judge, but I'm not sure.
Cris: NA
Ashley: na
Aaron: You were sent to solitary confinement and could potentionally lose good time if they deem. It. Neccesary acction. That's. That.
Walter: I'm not sure what the rules are on all of that. I did hear a story that an inmate kept some of his Benadryl allergy med for later and was charged an additional 90 days to his sentence. I never witnessed anything myself though.
Shawn: If you got caught doing any drugs or even smoking cigaretts for that matter you got tanked with the possiblilty of other charges or loss of good time
Mimi: I have no idea what the punishments would be for drug abuse. And I never witnessed or heard of any of the inmates trying to bring them in.
Saul: I did witness the use of drugs in the jail. In fact I felt like I saw more drug use in jail than I had ever seen outside of Jail. Punishment usually was being pulled out of your current cell and placed in a different cell
Heather: if u get caught doing drugs you will be charged with posession and who knows what else and put in the hole
Ricky: I saw quite a few guys get locked down, disciplined, good time taken away, and even complete ship out to another facility.
Sterling: Nope because nobody got so high that they were obvious. There were people that were arrested high but people tend to stretch drugs in jail so they dont do a lot at once.
Doug: I dont know cause I never witnessed it or even heard of it happening but i dont think that it would be good.
George: in the unit that i was in one of the inmates smuggled heroin, and chewing tobacco into the jail. he was removed from our block.
