Good Behavior

Interview with Carrie, Michael, Roy, Tiff, Lela and Manuel

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Carrie: No, I don't think that even exists. I think that is a way to think that your time will be shortened, but it never happens.
Michael: 18 days early original 90 days reduced to 72
Roy: No
Tiff: No. Good behavior was not an option only if given a major sentence.
Lela: I am not sure, since that wasn't my situation. I didn't have a release date and I wasn't sentenced.
Manuel: No time off for good behavior while you're fighting you're court case.but then I was bonded out.

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Carrie: It depends on where you are, lie I said I don't thin that it exists in the Milwaukee County Jail. I had to sit all of my 9 days. No good time, no nothing. Just straight 90 days.
Michael: dont know
Roy: N/A
Tiff: I believe it is 1 day for every 5 days of good behavior.
Lela: Not sure how that works.
Manuel: I believe they give you three days for every thirtydays

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Carrie: Getting into trouble, fights with other inmates, arguements with guards, correction officers, everyone and all things negative. If you don't have any trouble, if you do what you are sopossed to do, there is no reason for you to have any problems of this sort.
Michael: no fights or illegal activitys
Roy: N/A
Tiff: I mean just stay to yourself and try to survive . it isn't worth spending any more time than necessary in jail. and no I did not see anyone lose their time. We all wanted to go home
Lela: I'm really not sure and dont believe I saw anyone specifically lose their good time. But I would assume just not getting sent to the hole or getting written up.
Manuel: The only time an inmate could loose goodtime is for fighting.disrespecting a correctional officer.and contraband.and no I never witness anyone loosing time for good behavior cause it was none of my buiesness.
