JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Lance: No, I did 180 days. Ana: Yes. I served 85% of my sentence, which is the
minimum, because I never received one ticket or
disciplinary infraction. Jack: No I served a sentence which consisted of four
months flat.
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Lance: They do not offer time off for good behavior. Ana: 15% in a prison. If you are sentenced to a
county jail, you can get 2 for 1 (50%) if you
become an inmate worker. Jack: In Arizona state i believe you can receive up to
15 percent off for good time.
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Lance: N/A Ana: You simply cannot break any rules. This ranges
from not smoking (state facility) in an
inappropriate location to not fighting (any
facility). In some facilities you cannot even
walk in certain areas (usually lined off with
colored paint). In state facilities, there are
also requirements such as attending general
education classes if you cannot meet the 8th
grade level requirements. Yes. Quite a few
people lose time for bad behavior. This includes
participating in homosexual (lesbian) relations
in any facility. That happened quite a bit. Jack: You need to stay out of trouble in order to
receive time off. You must obey the rules and be
polite and respectful to people who do not treat
you with the same respect. I witnessed someone
lose their good time when officers found drugs on
in their possession.
