Good Behavior

Interview with Rod, Kerry, Milton and James

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Rod: NO. I GOT OUT EARLY BASED ON THE OVERCROWDING OF THE JAILS IN ALL OF RIVERSIDE COUNTY. AS A WHOLE.
Kerry: the did not have a good behavior system when i was there
Milton: No you get your good time always taken of unless you get into trouble then they could take some of it away
James: Yes I did get credit for 54 days when I actually served 16 at the jail and 22 under house arrest (the house arrest credit is only day for day, but inside the jail one is given 2 days credit for 1 day served).

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Rod: 1/3 OF YOUR TIME, IS CONSIDERED GOOD TIME/ WORK TIME. THEY CALL IT. WHICH MEANS YOU DO 2/3 OF YOUR TIME. IN RIVERSIDE. RIGHT NOW, PEOPLE ARE DOING 10% OF THEIR TIME WHICH MEANS IF YOU GET SENTENCED 90 DAYS, YOU WOULD ACTUALLY SERVE 9 DAYS CREDIT TIME SERVED.
Kerry: i would not know cause they didn't have it
Milton: The most time off you can receive is 50 percent
James: Like I just said every one day served gives you credit for two days served.

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Rod: STAY OUT OF TROUBLE. IF YOU ARE NOT A VIOLENT OFFENDER. THAT MEANS IF YOUR CRIMES ARE NOT OF THE VIOLENT NATURE. NO POINTS IN THEIR JAILS, NO FIGHTS, ETC.
Kerry: i really could not begin to tell you because they never said anything about thatand no i never witnessed anything like that while i was there
Milton: Just not get to many write UPS which you can get fort many different things like fighting Having contraband and no I never witnessed anyone get there good time taken off
James: Fighting; being disrespectful to female staff; having contraband; being under the influence of 'pruno' which is jailhouse wine; being disruptive in court or at the jail itself.
