Good Behavior

Interview with Sarah, Paul, Allan and Erik

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Sarah: Always :)
Paul: 1/2 time for good behavior was part of the plea.. so I guess I did get good behavior time off
Allan: Yes, a little less than my 1/3 time, I was lucky
Erik: No not really. I was given credit for time served awaitng trial. With lessor crimes like mine the jail gives half time credit based on good behavior. Fighting and stealing and general pain in the but behavior could and did get you time extended. Say yor getting have time on a sentence of two years. Fighting might get you 15 extra days

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Sarah: Hum.. half your time it was back then this has been years ago.
Paul: I have absolutely no idea
Allan: 1/3 of your time, maybe
Erik: I recieved half time which at the time was the best one could hope for. When I was released there was talk of one third time that turned into AB109. This is where you get released on probation instead of parole

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Sarah: Disregaurding Rules... pertaining to Officers & others around you.
Paul: I witnessed a couple fights, that resulted in people being locked down(23 hours a day in a solitary cell)There were a few people caught for "fishing" they would strip long strings out of their blankets, and tie one end to their combs. Then slide the combs under their doors into other cells, to trade candies and coffee packets. Anther inmate was written up when he wanted to see a DR, but the guard did not think it was an emergency, so left him in his cell, for the rest of the night.
Allan: Breathing, you can have time taken for just about anything, i.e. having too many pens, food in your cell etc. trying to have clean clothes
Erik: Your sentence starts with a given time off for good behavior calculation. Like I said you only get more time not less. There was a couple of cases where inmate petetioned for a review of the time to serve calculation and won. Recieving an accurate or more accurate date of release
