Interview with Hillary, Tye, Eva, Richard and Victor

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Hillary: They put you in jumpsuits. Misdemeanor blue, felony orange.
Tye: jump suits only no socks no boxers no t shirts z z z z z
Eva: you weren't able to bring in any clothes they would issue u these items except the woman has to wear the netted underware like your given after u give birth ..most of the time they would be out of them and u would only be given 1 pair every other day. when i was there they didn't supply any type of bras but now they issue sports bras and socks. but still no panties
Richard: Nothing you cant bring nothing outside in, but you can buy expensive white t shirt sock boxers once inside
Victor: A bra warm socks and my own toothbrush. And toothpaste. I also would want to have a better blanket. I know this isn't clothes but it is what I would have wanted.

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Hillary: See above.
Tye: one shirt one pant one set shower shoes blue for mis orange for felony a a a a a a a a a a a
Eva: u are issued a 2 piece bright orange shirt and pants that said either elpaso county down the leg or cjc and on the back it would say the same. u were give a white or dingy grey tshirt no socks and a pair of netted panties..now they issue socks and sports bras
Richard: there was colors, Orange jumpsuits were people in for felonies, blue jumpsuits were misdameanours, green jumpsuits were trustees, white jumpsuits were kitchen trustees, green turtlesuit/turquoise jumpsuit was suicide ward
Victor: Orange. Ugly. Two piece outter... a v neck top that pulls over and pants that sortof had elastc in them. Boy like undies and a sorry excuse for a real bra.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Hillary: The newer uniforms that look nice and weren't ripped and had pockets were in high demand.
Tye: yes the newer the better as a;ways a a a a
Eva: bigger sizes such as 2 and 3 xl these were high demand cuz if u wear a large then u would actually get a 2xl cuz the sizes run small...the men would always have uniform exchanges before the women so thise sizes were always in high demand.
Richard: nothing really special, but yea some inmates would look for the fresher, more newer looking gear rather than the raggedy pairs
Victor: You could buy a few things in commisary but who could afford it?

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Hillary: Same.
Tye: yes women were always in blue
Eva: the uniforms were same for both men and woman except the men were issued boxers and socks
Richard: nothing, maybe they had bras, but they wore boxers(if you can purchase them) but other than maybe bras absolutely nothing is different
Victor: They looked to be exactly the same.
