Interview with Hillary, Tye, Eva, Richard and Victor
JM: How many different blocks were there? Hillary: I'm not sure how many on the guy side. There are
four female wards. Tye: there used to be 8 Eva: there are 4 for females housing aprox. 300 females Richard: quite a few, there was C1&2 D1&2 B1&2&3&4 A1&2&3
E1&2&3&4 F1&2&3&4 Gulf, work release Victor: There is alpha 1 2 and 3 and the tower. that's
for women but i don't know about male wards.
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Hillary: hAlpha, echo, those are the only ones I
remember. When you first get booked in,
everybody goes into A-1. You are locked down
most of the day. You are allowed out for 2
hours or something like that. You are in there
for a week where you are classified, and then
they put you in a regular ward where you are
allowed out. Tye: a b c d e f h i and metrro Eva: female blocks are a1 a2 a3 which is the mental
health block and there is the tower which is e aka
echo and a aka is alpha Richard: The names of the wards are Alpha bravo charlie
delta echo gulf Victor: Alpha 1 Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 and the Tower
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Hillary: Not sure. Tye: felonies werer kept seperate from misdemeanors and
classified as min medium and max. max felonies
alwasy ended up at metro which was like shawshank
redemption exept for the charm - yup. Eva: variety of inmates ranging from misdemeanors to
felony 1 which includes murderers when u first
arrive u r evaluated and placed in mental health
block then u r transfered to anyone of the blocks
except a1 which houses people that have been
sentenced to doc Richard: Maximum points(murders robbers rapist) go to
unit C1 2. Medium pointsD1 2 . Low points Tower
(units E F G) Womens Alpha 1 2 3. fishtank b3
Hole b4 Adseg b1 suicide ward b2 Victor: Alpha 1 was for detox and to be punished. Alpha
2 is for mental or suicide watch. The hole is
in Alpha 2. Alpha 3 is next level. bigger than
alpha 1 and you get more unlocked time. The
Tower is for many things and that where I ended
up.
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Hillary: The tower is the nicest part. It's the newer
part. It's clean, and they have a library, and
you can go outside whenever you want. They have
a washer and dryer so you can wash your uniform
if you want. Tye: minimum units were 8 man cells with no doors and
same with alot of the med units. max units used to
have 2 - 4 man cell with iron bar doors shitty
phones as well a s crappy visitation units too.
they would cram as many extra bunk beds in there
as would fit. Eva: the nicest thing was most of the officers in the
jail actually tried to help with issues that u may
have needed help with. they were very involved
with making your time as comfortable as possible.
the worst part was and still is the food and
cleanliness of the facility. i remember one time
they served rice and one girl actually had maggots
crawling in hers. to this day i can't eat white
rice due to this incident Richard: Nicest part is in charlie and delta you can
atleast go outside every other day if its warm
outside. The towers you can have more of a
spending limit for your commissary, the worst
part about c1 is you are only out of your cells
for 3 HOURS a day. the worst part about the
suicide wardB2 is you're requied to wear a green
dress that isnt clothe. Victor: The Tower you get more privileges. You can get
gift basets sent and more unlocked time.
Showers were better in Alpha 3. There is more
room in Alpha 3. The Tower is smaller but you
get more time out of your cell. I hated the
hours we had to keep too.
