Interview with Hillary, Tye, Eva, Richard and Victor
JM: How often could you receive visitors? Hillary: Every other day. 30 minutes at a time. Tye: two visits a week - never had any visitors so i
thionk it was 2 Eva: u could recieve visits twice a week in echo and
once a week in the alpha blocks Richard: depending what unit y ou were in, if you are in
towers you can receive a visit every other day,
in d c you get 2-4 visits depending, Victor: at first 4 times per week. then 6days per
week. then finally every oter odd day.
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Hillary: Visitors have to call and set up appointments. Tye: i dont know i never got any visits. a a a a a a a
a a a a a a a a a a Eva: not really however the visiting screens to the
monitors were always messed up either to dark or all
one color so it was always hard to see your visitor
and for your visitor to see u. when a complaint was
given the officers always were rude to the visitor
and they would just have to deal with it Richard: someone who knows you are in there, then they
have to call in, be put on hold from 30-90min
easily, then drive all the way down las vegas st Victor: The process was time consuming. Inefficient and
there was no provsion to assist handicap peple
which was my mother. She was on crutches and
she received no consideration
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Hillary: Just a video monitor, and you have a phone to
talk into. Tye: in min and med they have closed circuit tgv
screens and phone sets for visits in max they only
have a glass square the size of an enveloope and a
grate to speak through. a a a a a a a a a a a a a
a a a a Eva: as stated in previous answer the visiting area was
always havein problems with the monitors and they
would always start the timer prior to notifying
the inmate of the visit so a 20 minute visit was
always cut by 5-10minutes because the block
officer would take their time to call for visits
or visiting would golly lag in calling the block
for inmate visits Richard: Its a computer screen you talk in a phone, and
it doesnt show how long you got left, so it cuts
off in 30min automatically, so you're talking
and bam theyre gone and you have to wait for
next visit or pricey phone call to even continue
what you were saying Victor: Dirty. Annoyingly inconsistent with dress code.
Echo chamber. The staff is for the most part
very rude. After all we are innocent until
proven guilty but visitors are treated like they
are the guilty ones. Noone bothers to be
helpful at all. The Screens sometimes have
timers and some don't. Timers started before
inmates show up... and TOO CROWDED. Three
people per visit is rediculous. Noone monitors
how LOUD visitors speak and it makes it
impossble to hear! It's just a degrading
experience.
