JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Ryan: No not really. I have a back problem. When I
told them that the bunk bed wasn't comfy enough
for me they said they couldn't give me an extra
mat or pills for the pain. I called my wife who
called my attorney who called chiropractor who
verified my condition. They gave me an extra
mat and some type of pain pills after that and
they didn't work. They were for moderate pain,
not the kind of pain I had. Angel: Yes Dale: Yes, I was taking Celexa and Vistiral. For
Axiety/Depression. Peter: No, I suffer from chronic headaches and couldn't
get any relief.
JM: How did you get your medications? Ryan: They brought it with a small styrofoam cup with
water, they check to make sure you don't keep it
in your mouth. Angel: The nurse Dale: Single Dose, the cart every night 2 times a day. I
had to see a Dr before getting perscribed the
medications. Peter: The nurse came around to each cell block twice a
day and inmates lined up alphabetically and went
to the door one at a time.
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Ryan: If you cheeked your meds you would
get "extracted", wrote up and sent to B pod, and
30 days added to your sentence. Angel: Yes I believe they would get 6 or 8
months added to their sentenced Dale: None that I know of. I know I spent 15days in the
box for not washing my pill down all the way. Peter: They can get a new charge for introduction of
contraband and have time added to their sentence.
I witnessed this a couple times.
