Visitor Policy

Interview with Ryan, Angel, Dale and Peter

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Ryan: You could have them come every day if you want, if they could get it scheduled in time.
Angel: 3 times a week
Dale: I think it's limited a little bit but atleast 5 per week. I seen people getting back to back visits. (It's 30mins per visit)
Peter: Every day of the week you could have visitors from around 7am til 8pm at Port Manatee.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Ryan: You have to schedule visits before 4pm for the next day. You have to call to schedule it. When you get there you have to have ID, and no cameras or cell phones are allowed.
Angel: Yes
Dale: No, they had to show their ID and they had to verify a appointment has been set then they get on the screen and visit.
Peter: Im not sure how lengthy of a process it was because I was in there, but no one ever complained about it when they came to visit.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Ryan: A small room with cameras. The visits are not in person, they are video.
Angel: I never had visitors
Dale: A little 8x8 room attached to the pod with 2 sreeens 2 plastic chairs and 2 phone sets. It's all Audio Video. It's pretty crappy I always though visits should be alot more personal then just sitting on a screen having everything you say monitored. I imagine it's very good for them.
Peter: From my side there was a tv screen in the pod and a plastic chair. It was not at all private or comfortable in any way. My visitors went into a separate building, down the road where the walls were lined with tv screens. There was no privacy on their end either.
