Interview with Emily, Kelly, Katrina, Billy and Cory
JM: How often could you receive visitors? Emily: once a week Kelly: I choose to not have visitors. I did see my attorney and the process
was easy. We spoke thru the visitor glass but I could hear well. Katrina: You can only have 5 visitors on your list but if one person
registers of the five they can't come whoever registers first for
that week Billy: We receive visits once a week. At the visit you cant physically
see them its on a tv screen. Cory: I never received any visitors because you had to
be there at least 30 days in order to receive
visitors. On some of my incarcerations I was
there more than 30, but I did not fill out a
visition card.
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Kelly: When my attorney came to see me she got right in and we talked
thru a plate of glass. Katrina: You have to register online before you can come visit and it
has to be 24 hours before the day of the visit to be able to see
you Billy: The check in process was lenghy because you have to have
registered online first before your visit. You have to wait until
your time to visit. If the booth video isnt working then you have
to wait until someone leaves from that booth. Cory: I have never had a visitor, but I understand that
the process was lengthy, because of the number of
inmates Fulton county house and the number of
visitors they have to serve.
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Kelly: We spoke thru the visitor glass but I could hear well. At first it was
difficult to hear her but she moved to a place where we were able
to discuss things over the phone which allowed me to hear her
better. Katrina: The visit is a video visit that only lasts for twenty five minutes
on a small little screen thr sometimes is blurry and does not
work and it does not give you a warning it just hangs up at the
end of the visit so it ok for a video chat Billy: The visiting enviroment was not so great for the inmate. We sit
on hard metal benches and it very cold in the booths. Its not
very private because you can hear other people conversation
The visitor had it great. They had comfortable
seats, snack machine if you get hungry. They two restrooms
and water fountains Cory: Of course, I am told there is no touching
contact, you talk through a glass and you are in
a locked room, where the officer has to put you
in and come back and get you. Though you have
not had any contact with the visitor and you are
separated by glass, A strip search is done after
each visit.
