JM: How many different blocks were there? Greg: There were a lot. Just what i seen i would say 5 for
sure as a minimum. Tyler: there were three cell blocks
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Greg: They were labeled A, B, C, D, E, etc and some had
numbers. Tyler: cell block A, D, and, C. there was also a medical
wing and a cell block B that was shut down
because it had major structure issues and was
deemed unsafe
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Greg: The one i was in i'm guessing is the low level
inmates that didn't commit major crimes. I don't
know about the "badder" inmates. I know i had a blue
jumpsuit on and only had 1 for 3 days! i guess the
red and orange was different levels? Tyler: the only inmates that were separated from general
population were violent offenders and some mental
health offenders. everyone else was mixed in with
each others including sex offenders which they
recently changed. they use to be segregated but
they are no longer
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Greg: The nicest thing in the holding cell was the
showers had curtains. The worst part about the
holding cell was there was only 1 small tv, only
one 5 gallon cooler that had kool-aid in it, after
that it was sink water. And in the general
population there was nothing nice and bad it was
VERY crowded and showers were broken and trash was
everywhere. Tyler: Lowndes county jail recently added on to the jail
and A block is considered the worst because it
was so old. no A/C and no Heat, it stinks really
bad and the showers are disgusting but D and C
are not bad at all they have AC/ Heat and single
showers to every cell
