Interview with Jennifer, Robert, Kathleen, Holly, Damon and Wade
JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Jennifer: no you dont always have access to your necessary
medications it can take up to 3 weeks to get the
meds you need. I was pregnant and it took me 2
weeks to get my vitamins. Robert: no you dont always have access to the necessary
medication that you need it. they had to approve
it before they would give it to you and that
could take months to getr apporved. Kathleen: Yes I always saw a nurse twice a day. Holly: No u did not have access to necessary meds Damon: I actually , surprisingly , had access to most
medications needed. Wade: An initial exam was offered to all inmates and
there was no seeming lack of attention or care to
needing inmates.
JM: How did you get your medications? Jennifer: a nurse comes and yells medication and the
inmates line up in a line to get there meds.
this could also take up to 1 hour before you get
your meds. they also keep alot of the inmates
under heavy doses so they are like zombies while
they are in the jail. Robert: a nurse came to your cell block to give meds
out. they would line up and hand them out to the
inmates. Kathleen: A nurse would administer the medication to me 2 times a
day and I would have to take it in front of her . Holly: You would get ur meds before they served lunch and before they
served dinner that was it it came on a med cart.. Damon: to get medication you had to talk to the doctor and
tell him what was wrong . before they would put you
on medicine , you must meet with the psych people so
they can evaluate you. Wade: I had no medications to receive, I as a person
receive no medications, but as I've learned an
inmate is to talk with a nurse, explain the
symptoms, offer a regular doctors advice, and they
can receive the necessary medication.
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Jennifer: you were put of lock up if you were abusing
drugs or handing out drugs. they were very
strict about that and no I never witnessed this
I just heard about it. Robert: the punishments that were incurred for abuse of
drugs were being put on lock up. being charged
with something else, or your good time getting
taken away. Kathleen: If you abused your drugs you got put on lock up and got in
serious trouble . No I have never witnessed this before. Holly: No I never witnessed this and had no idea of drugsbeing brought
into the jail at all it was too strict for anything Damon: I don't know the punishment because I dont know or
know of anyone who was ever caught using drugs.in
the facility. Wade: I did not witness this, generally though from
prior interviews a punishment could range from a
loss of privilege (i.e tv loss) to a term in the
hole, to an actual official charge and state
prosecution (a rare instance in most cases).
