Interview with Darrin and Jessica

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Darrin: the most important thing when in Montcalm County Jail is the person receives new unopened socks underwear and t shirts within 24hr of going to this jail and it would be a good idea to provide enough for them to have 3 new pair out of their personals each month they will be in jail. also as much money as you can spare every week.the spending limit used to be $25.00 per week. this jail is always cold and the food is not much to live off. if your loved ones get sick the medical expenses are very costly. things on the commissary list are also very expensive one change of whites (1 t-shirt, 1 pair of socks, and 1 pair of underwear) are almost the entire limit you are allowed to spend.
Jessica: Its not that bad the officers are real people so they understand. I have high regard for them. Also just know that there time should be spent on focusing what they need to do to change there path cause they don't need to come back. Be supportive and WRITE THEM. That means so much when your locked up.

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Darrin: bring as much money with you as you can. the food is not very good and there is not much of it. bring enough whites in new unopened packages to allow you 3 pair of everything each month you will be in this jail. their washing proses can be very harsh on your white cloths with all the bleach they use. but if you have extra in your personals the guards will usually bring you new out of your personals as long as you have some old to exchange.
Jessica: Remember what you did and take accountability for your actions and start to evaluate yourself cause god gave you a road block for a reason use it and better yourself. Cherish the ones who stand by you and respect there feelings cause your not just hurting yourself but the ones that love you.

Darrin: Osceola County Jail, Mecosta County Jail, Kent County Jail, Alternative Directions, MDOC (MPF, ITF, JCS, Newberry correctional), and SAI.
