Interview with Darrin and Jessica

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Darrin: there are many different cell blocks at Montcalm County Jail. i think there were 5-7 blocks in the new section then there are about 8-10 cells in the old section.
Jessica: east 3 east 4 east 5 ect. East 1-8

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Darrin: they did not really have names so to speak of but there is E1 to E8 or 10 on the east side then there is W1 to W5 or 7 on the west side. then there is holding 1 and 2 and detox 1-5 or 6 as well as a medical cell for the handicap.
Jessica: east 1-8 where on the women' side the men where in the pods.

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Darrin: there are many medium cells 3-5 minim security cells and 1 set of 8-10 max cells total. one of the minim blocks or cells are only for women but they move it around all the time depending on how many women are in the jail.
Jessica: Men where in the pods which I believe held up to 25 inmates. There are I believe 5 of those..dorms. Then on the east side of the jail was where women are housed. Trustees had there own cell. There was a womens god pod and a mans god pod.

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Darrin: the only thing i liked t Montcalm County Jail was being the 4 and 6 man cells because there is less people to fight with and it is easier to agree on TV shows and movies they are more relaxed and quieter as well. the worse part of the Jail is the medium security block where there is over 20 guys but only half of them get out of their cells at a time. in medium security you are in 2 man cell that you get to come out for 2 3-4 hour time periods each day; there is breakfast to lunch, lunch to midday, midday to supper, and supper to lock-down; the upper floor and lower floor alternate every other day on which 2 times they are out of there cells making the time equal over the course of 2 days.
Jessica: The god pod was great because the women would come from outside of the jail to teach us. Gave us hope. The worst part would be the bigger cells like east 3 and east 4 cause they had so many people and it was loud..East 5678 was smaller east 6 slept 6 ladies that was much quieter.
