JM: How often could you receive visitors? Darrin: once a week and only on certain days at certain
times. also there is a visitor list that you can
only put 3 people on and your visitors have to
call almost a week ahead of time to make a
appointment. Jessica: Visits would be 30mins once a week womens where 9
am to noon on Sundays only and mens where all day
on Saturday and sunday afternoon. Now if you
where a trustee you got an hour a week. Your
family had to call during the week Mon-Fri before
5pm to schedule an appointment for that weekend.
Your visiting list was made once a month with 3
visitors on it. Parents counted as one.
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Darrin: it can be if you do not bring proper id. if the
inmate is in max they could have also lost their
visit's. you must also be on the visit list but
the jail will not tell you if you are on your
inmates list in advance. Jessica: No it was not they usually check you in verify
that your on the inmates visiting card and then
you would wait till they brought the inmate to
the visiting area. They time starts from when you
check in they don't count from when you start
your visit.
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Darrin: it is not enjoyable for any one. there is hard
steal seats/stools that hurt the back and but. you
talk to your people through a phone on the wall
and see them through a thick piece of glass. you
can not touch your loved ones. and there are
usually loud obnoxious people or screaming kids
there making so much noise that you can barley
hear through the half working phones. Jessica: Well its a long rectangle room. 8-9 windows I'd
guess and phones. You pick up the phone and the
inmate picks up the hone just like the ones in
the cells and they tell you your being recorded
and your phone is timed 30 mins. Sometimes its
loud if the room is full and there are kids.
