Medications

Interview with Darrin and Jessica

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Darrin: No. my proscription medications were taken away including my mood stabilizer and pain medications.
Jessica: Now if you needed motrin or anything non prescription there was a nurse that was terrible. The whole medical thing at this jail is a JOKE.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Darrin: i was not allowed my medications except my inhalers. the guards would come around with medications about 4 times a day with what ever meds was needed for people at those times. the only meds that we could keep was Tylenol and Motrin that was bought off the jail store once a week and your only allowed 3 packages a week.
Jessica: Non prescribed you could kite the nurse or order on commissary. But your prescribed meds came by a med cart to each cell 3x a day.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Darrin: for not taking your meds or for concealing meds and stockpiling them or selling your meds a person could lose good time and would go to max for several days to as long as to the dy they get out.
Jessica: Well just like in society its against the law to abuse or sell drugs. So hence they would get into trouble. Yes all the time people would sell there pills. People have even smuggled in pills in there private areas.
