JM: Did you have regular access to telephones? Ian: Usually three in each pod. Ron: Yes while we were allowed out of our cells we were
able to use the phones Bodie: You have a phone acct. with a id pin number . if
you have funds on your books you can fill out a
transfer form to add to your phone acct to make
calls or have someone on the outside set one up
for you . you must have all the numbers you are
calling on a sheet they added in your acct to
make calls. This system was new when I was in
there and they kept changing it so they will
give you a how to use the phone speil when you
watch the orientation video of what they expect
and rules and whatnot,
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls? Ian: About $2.50 to make 15 minute call Ron: It was outrageous like 2.50 per 20 minute call Bodie: Depends are where you are calling I thinks 2.00
local and goes up from there . There is a prompt
key that will tell you to hear charges for this
call press this and will inform you before you
make call. Some calls can be very expensive if
you dnt have funds on acct you can't make any
calls
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out? Ian: They put the money on your commissary books and
you have to transfer the money onto your
telephone account and that takes a day for it to
go through and then you can make the calls. Ron: no if the person you were calling accepted calls it
went on there phone bill. Bodie: no you dnt you add funds to your acct. from your
books or credit card from somone on the outs
that is helping you .
JM: Did the jail screen your calls? Ian: Yeah they screen them. The record all of them and
they do have people sitting on the calls. Ron: Always Bodie: yes they can all calls are monitored and if you
are breaking the rules of what they ask you not
to do the call will be cutoff and you will lose
the funds for that call and or privelieges
