Interview with Luis and Scott

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Luis: We had phones but people had to buy minutes for you to use it.
Scott: yes the phones were on at all times and you could mak collect calls

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Luis: It was at least 43 cents a minute maybe more. Most inmates didn't use the phones but a few were always on the phone. I would say the average inmate used maybe 1 minute a week.
Scott: th collect call charges were very high and i would say on an average if you were to do a month there and use the phone daily your bill would be around 80 to 100 per month

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Luis: Someone on the outside had to buy your minutes.
Scott: no you can make collect calls but phone cards are better

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Luis: All calls were recorded but I'm not sure how often they were actually listened to.
Scott: they never disallowed ne of y calls but i know they do record and litsen in on them
