Medications

Interview with Matthew, Michelle and Art

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Matthew: No, I did not take any medications. Other inmates did though.
Michelle: no. the medical cart would come around morning and night.
Art: Yes. But they do charge you

JM: How did you get your medications?
Matthew: Every day a nurse would come in with a handcart, containing medications, and she would pass out the meds to the inmates. They would all be called for Medication, and have to get in a line for their meds.
Michelle: a medical cart would come around morning and night to give inmates on each unit what ever meds were precribed to them.
Art: Med pass a nurse comes through eachc unit and distributes the meds at the proper times and there is an officer regulating the cart

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Matthew: There was added charges for abuse of the medications/drugs, and you could be sent to solitary for the day if you did this. I never witnessed abuse of any drug while I was in there. We were watched pretty closely and there was no real access to any drugs besides the medications.
Michelle: that i am not sure of. never witnessed it myself. i do know that in the handbook it is a major violation with various consequences
Art: For drugs you could get anything frm extra time to more charges..guarentee that you will end up in the hole
