JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Darryl: Just rec time really. They had AA and church
services. Rec time was 1 hour per day. You
could go walk and work out in a basketball
place. They also had a volleyball court
outside. Each pod had 2 TV's Ralph: very few. a broken tv and an hour in a rec room
every other day. 18 hours a day or more was
spent in lock down on the women's mod Cheryl: they offerd a couple classes and programs like
church, AA, DA, footsteps, GED we also went to rec
everyday after dinner weather permitting we went
to the libary and had a day area with games books
and a TV we could also get paper and pencils to
write letters or drawl or take a shower
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Darryl: With the TV you always had to vote on stuff to
watch. Cheryl: during our out time we were able to watch tv
pretty such it was who ever got there first go to
choose what we watched and there was occationaly
fights about it but most of us used our out time
to socialize and play cards so we didnt pay much
attention to what was on
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Darryl: Yes because there isn't really that much to do. Ralph: ys Cheryl: yes its hard to stay in shape you spend 19 hours a
day in a small cell with another person so you
didnt move around much
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Darryl: Once a day. Ralph: never allowed outside Cheryl: we went outside daily for 45 min there was a track
and some work out equipment and also a volly ball
net and basket ball hoops
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Darryl: Yes, they were offered on Sunday evenings. Ralph: yes, they were good. held in a small room
around a table. many went just because it was a
way to get out of the cell Cheryl: the jail offerd alot of church programs there was
bible study 3 nights a week and 2 differnt
services on the weekend for church
