Interview with Kyle, Randy, Tyler, Dave and Melissa
JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Kyle: Assure them of your love and you'll be there for
them no matter what. Don't dwell on the crime.
Tell them you'll write and send pictures. You
will have your phones set up for available
calls, and will try to visit as often as
possible. Randy: I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THEY CERTAINLY TAKE
ADVANTAGE OF THE VISITING AS IT IS THE EASIEST
AROUND AND IMMEDIATELY SET UP A PHONE ACCOUNT
FOR CALLS. OTHER THAN THAT ITS NOT THAT HARD OF
A PLACE TO BE. Tyler: Be supportive and help in anyway that they
could. Try to get a good attorney and get them
bonded out as soona s possible. Give them very
little money to there commisary account so they
will want out as soon as possible Dave: MAKE SURE YOU TRY TO PUT MONEY ON THE BOOKS FOR
THEM SO THAT THEY DONT GO HUNGRY AND SET UP THE
PHONE ACCOUNT SO THAT THEY CAN CALL. ALSO GO
VISIT THEM Melissa: Set up the phone account so that they can call you when they need
to. Visit them, because that will make it easier and it's easy to get
in for a visit. No prearrangements need to be made, just show up
during visiting hours. The facility was very clean, and the Deputies
and Guards that I encountered actually impressed me with their
professionalism and dedication. (I'm saying this as a first-time
arrestee, someone who has NEVER been in trouble at ALL, so I'm
looking at it from an outsider's point of view. It was nice to see
employees CARE about the inmates.)
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Kyle: For the most part it will be safe if you keep
your mouth shut and your eyes open. Do your time
quietly, quickly and we'll be here when you get
out. Get into a routine of reading, working out
in your cell and writing. Writing makes the time
go by faster than anything. Don't dwell on the
past, focus on the future Randy: I WOULD SAY TO JUST TRY TO GO IN WITH SOME MONEY
ON THE BOOKS OR HAVE SOMEONE WHO CAN SEND YOU
MONEY. THEY DO HAVE AN ATM TO MAKE DEPOSITS
INTO INMATE ACCOUNTS IN THE LOBBY OF THE VISIT
AREA. Tyler: Don't make any friends. They are not your
friends. They will full advantage of you any way
you can. Get along with your cell-mate as hard
as it can be. Read alot, pass your time with
anything, stay out of trouble, know your charges
if you cant contact a person dont. It will hurt
you add more charges, increase your bond and you
will stay longer Dave: GO IN WITH SOME FUNDS OR HAVE SOMEONE ON THE
OUTSIDE BE ABLE TO HELP YOU. KEEP TO YOURSELF AND
JUST MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND YOU WILL BE FINE. Melissa: Apparently, you want the 3XL pants because they are soft. From
what I saw, if you treat the guards/ deputies with respect, they will
do the same to you. Keep your area clean and simply do what is
asked of you.
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Kyle: Arapahoe County, Colorado
Washington County, Colorado
Denver County, Colorado
4 different prisons in the Colorado DOC system.
(All on the same charge)
CERT Rehab - 45 day in-patient , Alamosa,
Colorado Randy: ARAPAHOE COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY, CENTENNIAL,
CO Tyler: None Dave: ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO Melissa: I was processed through Arapahoe County Corrections while being
transferred here.
