Interview with Kyle, Randy, Tyler, Dave and Melissa
JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Kyle: I was lucky enough not to take any but for guys
who did they were available. However to validate
prescriptions from the streets or doctor's
charts could take 4-6 weeks. Randy: I WAS NOT ON ANY MEDICATIONS. Tyler: An orderly came to each floor several times a
day to give out medications so, yes. Dave: YES TWICE A DAY THEY CAME AROUND Melissa: N/A
JM: How did you get your medications? Kyle: Twice a day the medical cart and nurse would
come to the different areas. If you needed
special attention they would send for you to be
escorted to the specialized medical area. Randy: FROM WHAT I SAW, TWICE A DAY A NURSE CAME AROUND
TO THOSE WHO NEEDED MEDS AND PASSED THEM OUT. Tyler: My blood pressure was running wild from the time
I entered to jail so I was given high blood
pressure till the time I left Dave: THE NURSE CAME TO THE PODS TWICE A DAY TO
DISTRIBUTE MEDICATIONS AND YOU COULD GO TO THE
DOCTOR IF YOU NEEDED. Melissa: N/A
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Kyle: Write ups, loss of priviledges, being sent to
the hole. Some had even lost their meds all
together because they proved by giving them away
or selling them they didn't need them Randy: I DID SEE ONE PERSON CHEEK THEIR DRUGS WHILE I
WAS THERE SO THEY WERE PLACED IN A HIGHER
SECURITY UNIT. Tyler: Jefferson county was very strict when it came to
handing out medications so this was never
witnessed. I never saw any punishment Dave: I DID SEE ONE GUY CHEEK HIS MEDICATION AND HE WAS
IMMEDIATELY REMOVED AND PLACED ON A HIGHER
SECURITY LEVEL IN A DIFFERENT POD. Melissa: I didn't see any of this.
