Interview with PJ, Katherine, Jimmy, Baldy, Max, Karen, Richard and Danielle
JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? PJ: exercise area Katherine: NOthing really except the REC yard. And thats
what sucks, Jimmy: rec yard Baldy: playing cards, sleeping Max: There was not even a bed in there Karen: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Richard: there is no facilities ate the jail for leisure
time except for the recreation yard which is
usually a couple of times a week for playing
basketball or working out in place with your
towel unless you are at the tents where there is
outside yard to walk around or play football Danielle: we had no facilities. they cut our ged program.
they cut our aa and na meetings. we had
parenting classes1x a week. we had church 3x
week. we had a rec yard but we were only able to
go out 2 or 3 x a week because the guards didnt
want to have to sit out there.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. PJ: regular access Katherine: No because they hardly ever let us out. Jimmy: it was in the middle usually the biggest guy got
control and im only 5'9 150 so yeah Baldy: are u kidding me? Max: nothing Karen: There is no entertainment a couple of boring
ripped books if you are lucky as the other
inmates hide them under their mattresses Richard: there really is no entertainment there except
for television, if you can hear it over the loud
screaming and yelling of the other inmates in
the pod that you are in. i usually spent time
playing cards so i dont really have too much to
say on the entertainment at the jail Danielle: there was no entertainment. we had to buy
playing cards. we had chess and checkers and
pinnochle. we had books that were from the 70s
and 80s. and we had no tv. all they show is
educational stuff but none of it was even
remotely interesting. it all sucked bad
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? PJ: no Katherine: No not really. Just walked 52 laps around the
dorm everyday. Jimmy: no i did alot of push ups lifted weights and
played some basketball Baldy: no Karen: Alot of the females just walked the entire pod,
did laps they call it for their exercise regime Richard: no i did not there was plenty of dayroom and
recreation time when i was at the facility but
could have changed Danielle: im a big girl anyways and i wasnt locked up to
lose weight. i worked my but off in there to
stay in shape
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? PJ: once a day Katherine: Hardly ever. We were lucky to go out 2 times a
week. Jimmy: once a day but all day since i worked at the farm
for a month Baldy: once a day Max: 0 Karen: dont know Richard: usually around twice a week. i would play
basketball or run laps around the outer edge of
the indoor rec yard or run in place Danielle: we went out 2 or 3 x a week. there was
basketball and volleyball courts. or alot of
girls just walked around the fence to excercise
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? PJ: I did not attend. Katherine: Yes everyday. I didnt really feel comfortable
attending in jail and they were held in the
QUIET ROOM in our dorm. Jimmy: yes but didnt attend Baldy: sundays, Karen: yes they offer them I wasnt in there long enough
to experience one THANK GOD Richard: yes, i never attended a church service with the
inmates or the chaplin while at the facility at
that time Danielle: yes they did. it was nice at times. but with it
