Interview with PJ, Katherine, Jimmy, Baldy, Max, Karen, Richard and Danielle
JM: Did you have regular access to telephones? PJ: no Katherine: Only during the times that we were not in
lockdown which is 3 times a day. after breakfast
Lunch and dinner. And none of the phones hardly
worked. Jimmy: not at all Baldy: no, dont none of em really work, and anyways,
wont none of your peeps accept the charges,
cause the charges are too hefty for the average
phone bill Max: No4 Karen: Providing nobody is on them and that they work Richard: yes regular acess to telephones Danielle: barely. the phones were always going out and
starting a bunch of drama
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls? PJ: I don't remember Katherine: It was always $2.25 a call for only 15 minutes
of talk time. Thats expensive. Jimmy: 2 dollars or something like that Baldy: 3.95 for 5 minutes.and I like to talk, it keeps
me from doing something stupid Karen: Didnt call anyone while I was there others had
people on the outside contact inmateconnect.com
and place money in account the calls were 3.00
for 15 min Richard: collect charges. i would not know too much about
this question because i never really use the
phone in jail except to call the public defender
which is free Danielle: i was omly able to call home 1x week. the
charges were like $5 a call and my mom lived 20
mins away
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out? PJ: yes Katherine: Nope just dial the number and the pin number
they give you. Jimmy: yes Baldy: probaly Karen: I think its the family members on the outside
that buy them for you Richard: no it is collect or three way only i believe Danielle: no but i wish we could have
JM: Did the jail screen your calls? PJ: yes Katherine: Sometimes, They say they do but not really. only
if you give them a reason to. Jimmy: maybe Baldy: you know they do, specially if they are seeking
information against you Max: yes Karen: I hear they do again I didnt make any calls Richard: no they did not screen them Danielle: of course they did!! all the time
