JM: How many different blocks were there? Ron: I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE HOW MANY THERE WERE I ONLY
KNEW THEY WERE THERE. I'LL ESTIMATED THERE WERE
SEVERAL OR AT LEAST 20 OTHERS. mike: 8 with 2 dorms per block Brian: I can't remember how many blocks there were. Clay
county jail is not as big as Jacksonville's jail.
I believe there are 4-5 stories of jails.
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Ron: DID NOT KNOW THE NAMES AS THEY DID NOT TELL ME
ANYTHING AND I DID NOT ASK OR WAS NOT CURIOUS
ABOUT THE DIFFERENT NAMES!!! mike: A-G A=intake dorm B=Female dorm C=confinment
D=General population 40 man dorm F=2 man cells
G=16 man dorm H=sentanced inamtes Brian: I can only remember the names being called by what
particular floor an inmate was on.
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Ron: NOT SURE WHAT THE QUESTION IS ASKING, ALL I KNOW
IS THERE WERE SEVERAL DIFFERENT INMATES!!! BUT
I DID NOT KNOW ALL THE NAMES!!! mike: A-G A=intake dorm B=Female dorm C=confinment
D=General population 40 man dorm F=2 man cells
G=16 man dorm H=sentanced inamtes Brian: The blocks were separated by: a juvenile inmate
floor, a women's floor, a serious crimes/ or
inmates that were awaiting prison sentence, a
regular arrests floor, and a medical floor.
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Ron: THE BEST PART WAS THE FACT OF LOOKING FORWARD
TOWARD RELEASE, AND THE WORST PART WAS, THE
STINKING COPS!!! I MEAN MOST OF THEM SAT AROUND
AND ATE FOOD ALL DAY!! mike: 16 man block was quiet easier to sleep. In the
big dorms there was alot of stealing.
Confinement you wont get any prevliages. In the
intake dorm the lights never go off. Brian: Jail is jail...don't really remember "nicest".
What I was glad of was the fact I was on a smaller
cell block. Which was a 16 man cell. It was small
and mostly quiet. There are other floors I've been
on in which house 30-40 inmates. This is how
problems can arise. When there are so many
different personalities in one place.
