Inmates

Interview with Jim and Jerry

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Jim: Yeah my classification was not right so i was with a diffent group of inmates then I was supposed be with I really kept to myself
Jerry: No, I am almost 50 years old so I had the common sense to get along with the other inmates. Almost every one of them were much younger than me.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Jim: I did not really talk to anybody
Jerry: I had to ignore the rudeness of people screaming and yelling after hours when the lights were out and it was time to sleep. Breakfast is at 4:30 and lights go out at 11 so that doesn't leave much time for sleep. I just had to do my best to ignore the noise.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Jim: no
Jerry: No, the cells were assigned. No one got to choose who they shared a space with the I know of. You were given a cell and that was the end of it.
