JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Jim: no certain hours they were shut off
Jerry: No, certain hours of the day only, and there was one
phone for 15 people
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Jim: I had to call collect and long distance so it
was like 4 something a min
Jerry: It costs $32 for $25 of phone time. I was able to
make about 7 calls for that amount
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Jim: no
Jerry: No, my family had to pay with a credit card
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Jim: yes
Jerry: Yes, they are all recorded
