Medications

Interview with Jim and Jerry

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Jim: not always had to wait for the nurse
Jerry: No. I went three weeks before I was allowed to have glasses brought in for me. I had a severe ear infection. It took three days to see a nurse and then I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Jim: nurse cart
Jerry: They were handed out once a day. It is charged to my commisary account to see a doctor or to receive motrin.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Jim: you got thrown into the hole a cell by yourself no free time locked down for a week
Jerry: I never saw anyone using drugs in my block, not sure what would the punishment would have been if someone did that.
