JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Alex: It was a very irritating process for me. The
pre-sentencing process is definately not for
impatient individuals or for people who are weak
at heart. That time spent took almost forever
to pass by. Javier: It was very difficult. It put a lot of stress on
me anticipating my sentence for 12 months. I had
my lawyer push my dates back so that i could
finish school before i went in. Kyle: I was finger printed took pictures of my
tattoos put in a holding cell where I was
giving a blanket and was asked if I was
hungry then I was took to my my cell
where I stay until I was called upon the
judge then the judge gave me my bond
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Alex: Police did not stop by my house for questioning. Javier: No, police never stopped by but they did call me. Kyle: It was a late Saturday night after a game
me and my cousin was in a rush we ran a
stop sign and next thing that happened
we were pulled over I had marijuana in
my possession I tried to throw it out but
had no time to and when the car was
searched the cops found it
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Alex: It was a lengthy process. It started around 6AM
and ended somewhere around 7PM after all of the
inmates in my cell block had their appearances.
I gave back my plea and asked for an open
session/plea with the judge to try to get my
sentencing reduced. I also had a public
defender there with me. Javier: My court appearances always went pretty well. I
was blessed with a good judge and reasonable state
attorney. It was always scary though listening to
every hearing before yours. Kyle: Court is court to me the same as wit
tickets its not like it was a trial or
anything cause I was caught red handed
by them so I was automatically guilty I
was just a lil nervous at first but it turned
out not to be as bad as I thought it
would br
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Kyle: Possession of marijuana which is what I
was charged with
