JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Toby: yes, phone access was constantly available, execpt during lock-downs.
J. Friday: Yes.
Jeremy: Yes. There were 8 phones in my pod.

Brian: yes
Alicia: Yes,most of the time..up until around 7pm
Darryl: Yes they stayed on most of the time

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Toby: local calls were 2.50 for 20 minutes
J. Friday: To call local is $2.50 for 20 minutes. To call outta state costs around $20 for 20 minutes.
Jeremy: All calls must be collect.
Lisa: Collect.
Jenny: I think it was like 2.25 for 15 minutes for each call, and if I called Gainesville, it was I think 4.95 for the first minute then maybe so much per minute after. Much more for calling long distance
Brian: The inmate is subjected to calling collect on a system picked by the sherrif and it costs a fortune in his system to call anyone.
Alicia: Well most of them had family so as long as it was a landline it was like any other long distance call, if you were calling a cell then the one you would call would have to put like 25 dollars on the cell to be able to talk. I would say the average person would spend like 25 to 35 a week..
Darryl: 3 doll. A call in pinn.avetage is 20 dol ok ars a week with most inmates

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Toby: no, all calls were collect.
J. Friday: Pinellas County Jail isnt smart enough to offer them on commisary.
