Medications

Interview with Jack, Jerry, Sarah, Jesse, Kristie, Tim and Judith

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Jack: Yes, if you went to the hassle to fill out the book it takes to get to see the doctor.....You might die first.
Jerry: yes, the nurse would come twice per day for those who were prescribed medications. Other than that you were allowed to get (2) Tylenol every 8 hours if needed.
Sarah: no.
Jesse: No
Kristie: Yes but only because I was not on any prescribed medication at the time. There were several other women that held legitimate prescriptions for things like xanax and klonopin that were not allowed their medication. I ended up developing a bladder infection while incarcerated and they prescribed me antibiotics, which I did receive.
Tim: are you out of your fucking mind? NO THERE WAS NO MEDICAL AT ALL FOR ANY REASON FOR ANY WHITE INMATE. THERE NEVER WILL BE IN GA. AFTER MY SKULL WAS FRACTURED AND MY NOSE BROKEN AND MY RIBS KICKED IN I WAS HANDCUFFED AND DRAGGED TO ISOLATION AND LEFT THERE TO (HOPEFULLY) DIE OF MY INJURIES.
Judith: They kept ibuprofen on hand. I didn't take any meds.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Jack: I did not.
Jerry: from the nurse in the mornings or evening or from the deputy in the cell block.
Sarah: there was a very long line to receive tylenol. everything else had to be prescribed.
Jesse: I was refused my meds
Kristie: Twice a day the pod would go on lock down while a nurse with a med cart entered. If you were supposed to get medication you formed a long line with your jail issued cup of water and waited your turn. When it was your turn the nurse would ask for your name and inmate number. She would verify it by looking at the wrist band bolted around your wrist. The pills would be in a little cup. We would also get a little pack of crackers.
Judith: They had everyone get in line alphabetically and did a-l first then m-z last. Then they watched as you took it to make sure you weren't selling it to someone.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Jack: Have no clue.
Jerry: Additional charges and solitary confinement
Sarah: put in the hole and received extra charges.
Kristie: I did see several inmates smoke pot and crack while there. I did not see anyone get caught. Two girls that were "workers" found a bottle of klonopin while sorting trash and split the entire bottle. They became incoherent and the guards figured out what happened by reviewing the video cameras. After the girls returned from the hospital they lost their "jobs" sorting trash and had to spend two weeks in I-Max (solitary).
Tim: None, the niggers have all the drugs and the cops supply them. crank, crack, pot, even heroin and the needles to shoot it. the cops bring it all in and the niggers control it.
Judith: I never saw anyone be punished for trying to sneak their drugs to anyone else. They were pretty happy to be getting it theirselves!
